Breakfast Club
The Breakfast Club at St. Lucy is Back!
A school Breakfast Club can have far-reaching effects on students’ academic
performance and overall well-being. A healthy breakfast helps provide essential
nutrients that support focus, attention, participation in class and overall better
performance at school.
Breakfasts programs create a positive communal environment where students
can socialize with peers. This sense of community contributes to a positive school
culture.
Breakfast programs can be beneficial for parents who work shifts or have busy
schedules, making it challenging to prepare breakfast in the morning. Knowing
that children have access to breakfast at school can provide peace of mind for
working parents.
The St. Lucy Breakfast Club has begun! Breakfast will be served each week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:40 – 9:00am. Students will be able to come in to the school to enjoy breakfast with their friends on these days. Please do not drop your child off prior to 8:40am on Breakfast Club days.
In upcoming weeks, we will also be offering a Grab-and-Go breakfast option on
Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:45am. Students can collect their snacks in the morning then return to the schoolyard. Please do not drop your child off at school prior to 8:45am on Grab-and-Go days.
Please note: This is an optional program. At times, students drop in for food or snacks. All are welcome. However, if you do not want your child to participate in our Breakfast Club and/or Grab-and-Go breakfast, please let the office know.
All breakfast options are nut free. If your child has other allergies and will be
participating in Breakfast Club and/or Grab-and-Go breakfast, please let the office know so that extra precautions are taken to alert the staff members who are serving breakfast that day.
In order to ensure the safety of our students, parents/ guardians are asked to adhere to the following drop-off/ pick-up rules:
- Parents/Guardians who are dropping off/picking up Kindergarten, Grade 1 students, or those requiring assistance, will park in a designated parking spot and walk their child to their designated area in the school yard.
- Students in Grades 2—8 (who do not require assis- tance) may be dropped off/picked up in the Kiss 'N Ride area.
- All students who are picked up at the end of the day will proceed to the Kiss 'N Ride area.
- In order to maintain traffic flow, please leave Kiss 'N
- Ride area once drop off/pick up is complete.
- Please do not leave your car unattended or idling.
- There is no parking/stopping in Drive Through Lanes, Bus Lanes, and any area along the fence.
In keeping with Dufferin-Peel School Board Policy, all visitors to the school must report to the office.
We begin our day at 9:00am with our morning bell, national anthem and daily prayer. Students may be dropped off as early as 8:45am in the school yard. Please note, there is no teacher supervision prior to 8:45am and students should not be left unattended. Students should arrive at school at least 10 minutes prior to the bell to allow time for them to line up with their classmates at the appropriate entrance. It is imperative that students arrive on time so that they do not miss valuable instructional time. Parents are asked to report their child's absence through school messenger:
- Web: go.schoolmessenger.ca
- App: SchoolMessenger
- Phone: 1-844-435-3440.
